Dynamic Linear Space on a two-dimensional Surface

I make work that explores the application of abstract linear geometry in urban landscapes. I see this as a dynamic linear series that depicts recessional spatiality and movement across the surface.

I enjoy the juxtaposition of structure, speed and space in urban spaces. Lines with fluidity create an immediate sense of order versus chaos but both languages conspire to convey paradoxical complexity and intensity. It is reminiscent of Peter Ackroyd’s audio guide of ‘London’ the different areas and how they resemble a thousand vortices.

Through the use of lines against complex background washes I envisage and express London as a whole within the framework of a painting. Despite being of Romanian parentage, I was born and brought up in London, the city has influenced my work and it has developed as a direct result of my immediate environment.
